DID YOU KNOW

Ulcerative colitis is a long-term disease that causes inflammation and sores (ulcers) in the innermost lining of the colon and rectum. This inflammation often leads to symptoms like abdominal pain and frequent diarrhea.

The exact cause of ulcerative colitis is not well understood, but it's believed to involve an abnormal immune response. Genetics, environmental factors, and gut bacteria imbalance might contribute to this condition.

The ABTECT Study will last for up to 16 weeks. You will be randomly assigned to receive 1 dose of the investigational medication, or a placebo. The placebo looks just like the investigational medication but contains no active ingredients.

Approximately 612 people, 18 years of age or older will take part in the study.

If you are eligible to take part, you will need to visit the study center at least 6 times. There will also be times when you will need to contact the study team by telephone.
